Dream Build Budget Do's and Don'ts
One of the biggest concerns I hear from client is about not-blowing the budget. Below are a few tips to keep in mind, so you can stay in-control of your spending, while also staying sane, and getting exactly what you want without sacrificing what's most important to you.
#1 - BE UP FRONT & HONEST
- Do know your budget and stick with it
- Don't constantly change the budget number depending on who you're talking to, or who is / isn't around
- Do share your budget with your team
- Don't be afraid your team will spend it all (If you don't trust your team, you need a new team.)
#2 - STAY INFORMED & IN CONTROL
- Don't ignore the numbers & hope it all works out
- Do track your spending.
- Don't assume someone else is handling everything
- Do be mindful of the little things; even small details that don't fit your lifestyle can negatively impact your budget
#3 - USE YOUR TIME WISELY
- Don't be so quick to make selections that you blow your budget
- Do make selections early in the design process to ensure they meet your needs related to style, comfort, and budget
- Do trust yourself, being indecisive and constantly changing your mind, will cost you time and money
